Make use of idle moments. Multitasking is the key to saving time. Arrange your work so that you can do one dish while another one is cooking. While the roast is finishing in the crock pot, why not fix a salad or make a quick dessert? This way, all the dishes will finish at the same time and you can start serving immediately.

As ever, you should always be aware of what you're eating. Lean cuts are nice, but sometimes you just want to indulge in a tender Rib-eye or T-bone. In general it's best to just look out for marbling braising meat for stew stay healthy. Trying to cut down on fat doesn't mean missing out on red meat.
